Daddy's Day

Today is Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to you! I asked M what a good dad does. He said he goes to meetings, makes him laugh a lot, and makes lemonade (they were making lemonade at the time). A song he sang while enjoying breakfast, "Daddy, daddy, you do good things all the time. I pray that you feel better and grandma feels better soon". The made-up song ended with a nice line of gibberish. Daddy feels fine, but how sweet to pray for him and that he included his great-grandma, who is currently recovering from a fall.

M's daddy cares about people, cares about what is Right, and is silly and fun with the boys. I'm so thankful when they roll around together, like little boys love to do, because M and J's laugh is the best sound in my world.

I'd like to tell you what my Heavenly Father does.

My God:

Be encouraged today that God loves YOU perfectly!

Close your eyes and hold out your hands, palms up. Let all worries, guilt, shame, checklists, fears, distractions, and thoughts melt away. Wait until this happens. Breathe deeply. On the exhale let go of the bad. On the inhale let God come in. Connect meaningful-to-you words to this, if so desired (Exhale: Go. Inhale: Come.) Imagine and feel God's embrace around you. Smile on the inside. Smile on the outside.

Don't feel Him? Keep trying.

Do feel Him? Keep doing it.

Lord,

May earthly fathers strive to be a reflection of how You are father to us.

May they feel joy when they get it right.

May they feel Your Grace and our love when they get it wrong.

May we fully understand that our laughter is the best sound in Your world and we are beautiful in Your sight.

May we feel Your Love more fully each time we think of You.

Amen.

God is worthy of praise and the list of what God does could go on forever. Comment with what you admire about our Father. Also, feel free to share Bible verses that talk more about our awesome God. There are so many!
